This role brings together the data responsibilities (Analytics, Insights & Data Science) for the three tightly coupled domains of Finance, Credit and Risk.

Operating in the Financial Service space, Yoco supports the movement of money between buyers and sellers at the point of exchange. The analysis and monitoring of transactions and the flow of funds in and out of the Yoco platform is essential, along with understanding the movement of money within the platform itself.

 

Yoco Capital is a credit product for small businesses to access funds when they need them. Customers received updated, qualified, Capital offers daily and are able to access their funds the following day - all enabled by the Yoco app. In order to provide a seamless and responsible experience for customers, it's essential that Yoco effectively manages credit risk.

 

Yoco has built tools for the mitigation of payments risk, ensuring that bona fide payments are processed with maximum speed, whilst fraudulent payments are detected in real-time. Ensuring that this system remains cutting-edge, and up to speed with the growth of the business is critical and requires a blend of Engineering & Data skills.

 
 
IDEAL CANDIDATE | WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING? 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
This role is responsible for all Data leadership across the portfolios of Credit, Finance and Risk. This role requires a combination of strong technical and leadership capabilities, along with the ability to build a strong team. Key responsibilities per domain include:
 
Credit analytics
 
  • Building models to quantify credit default risk for the Yoco Capital portfolio of products
  • Partnering with Product squads to implement data driven recommendations to manage credit risk
  • Partnering with Finance to calibrate bad debt forecasting and management
  • Growing and managing the credit analytics team
 
Financial & transactional analytics
 
  • Structuring source data to formalise reporting for payments cashflow
  • Mastering transaction analytics to derive value from transactions data across the business
  • Developing insights for financial reporting
  • Growing and managing the financial analytics team
 
Risk analytics
 
  • Structuring source data systems for accurate fraud reporting
  • Developing predictive modelling for fraudulent transactions
  • Partnering with Engineering to implement real-time risk-mitigation models
  • Growing and managing the risk analytics team
 
IDEAL CANDIDATE | WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
 
Key requirements to perform responsibilities:
 
Background:
 
  • An experienced Lead Analyst or Lead Data Scientist (or Head of Data), a specialisation in Finance & Credit is preferred
  • Experience in working in either a growth-focused or technology organisation, ideally working together and collaborating with the operations team, data team, and engineering team, as well as other business stakeholders
  • Comfortable with a variety of Data Analytics tools and platforms from cloud platform databases (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery) with SQL, Python, and front-end tools e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker
  • A track record of delivering results from analysis, creating business relevant insights rather than simply completing analysis for its own sake
 
General Experience:
 
  • 10+ years experience in a technical data role
  • 5+ years experience leading a data team
  • Strong SQL experience
  • Experience with credit modelling, including developing scorecards, default and bad debt forecasting and customer lifetime value prediction
  • Strong communication and team building skills
 
Bonus points/nice to have:
 
  • Experience with Looker
  • Experience with risk modelling
  • Experience in banking
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM
