Armand and Juan are twin brothers, but that’s not what they’re known for. At 19, they’re two of the youngest entrepreneurs in Polokwane.

Small businesses are so important because not only are you helping an entrepreneur, you’re helping people with their personal lives. Not only does it feel great to get support from the community, but you’re also adding to the community, you’re here to make things better. Supporting a big commercial company you’re just buying someone else a new car, but this is actually helping us educate ourselves in new ways.

Their business, Bakery & Co., is how they live out their passion. They strongly believe in no pre-mix and no preservatives so their treats take you back to that proper, home-baked feeling. Armand and Juan love running their bakery in Polokwane.

It’s quite a small town. It’s easy to start a business because the feedback from customers is thorough. We form one-on-one relationships. These have turned into friendships and these people become your family. The sun is still big enough to shine on everyone here.

And if you have a small business, the founders of Bakery & Co. would love you to know “Patience is key. You have to practice. Have a good relationship with your customer, wait for opportunities, don’t let them go and don’t rush. Take risks but never let your quality slip.”
